APP for iPhone LuoBi Chinese version0.9.3 Download

Luòbǐ (落筆) is a word relating to classical Chinese calligraphy, it means to "lower your brush and start writing."
LuoBi Chinese lets you expand your vocabulary by writing characters on your phone's touch screen.
We use a modern SRS Flash Card Engine that takes charge of organising your study routine, so you can concentrate on learning rather than planning. You will be prompted to review your studied words before you forget them.
We have developed a stroke based handwriting recognition system for Chinese characters, which gives you real time feedback on your hand writing. This way you will never learn the wrong stroke order or other bad habits. Go get that HSK!

Are you a teacher?

This is an academic project, where I am collecting handwriting data from users. I am going to be analysing this data for my master's thesis, so if you (or anyone you know) is teaching Chinese to foreigners, I would be very happy to have your students as a control group. Please send me a PM, or write me at luobichinese@gmail.com

Reviews

Much better! Thanks to the Developer for the fast reply The developer repaired a sign in glitch practically the next day after my not-so-positive review. Thanks! Now after testing out the app I spent a good 20 minutes finding out just how bad I am at Chinese characters. Overall it seems like a very fun and interesting application. I am changing my review to a 5 out of 5 simply due to the fact that I have not seen many apps like this on the market although it still seems like it could use a bit of work. I'm sure that may come with time and it's increased popularity. Cheers

Shows promise, not quite there yet This will be a great app someday. It's still useful, but some of the character writing is buggy. Yao 要 and zhe 这 in particular are giving me problems so far, in that the app is telling me my strokes are wrong, even when I'm drawing the exact same lines it suggests.

Pretty good. I really hope this takes off!

Some characters require you to be perfect 着, 眞 are impossible to do, because the app wants you to follow it perfectly....
